How To Participate In Chess Tournaments In India?
Chess is an ancient board game played by two people. The player with the black pieces moves first, and both players continue making alternate moves until one captures an opponent’s piece, at which point they can stop. Each player attempts to arrange their chess pieces so that they “checkmate” the other player’s king.
Chess tournaments in India are regular events at which many players compete over a set number of rounds or matches for prizes of cash, trophies, and personal satisfaction.
A player enters a chess tournament by either agreeing to participate on a particular date and then paying the entry fee for that day. Alternatively, a player may enter by submitting an entry with the tournament director before the start of the tournament for consideration for final selection.
Once selected, players receive an invitation to attend. Players can only participate in one chess tournament per year but may attend as many as they like until all their invitations have been used up.
Everyone who participates is required to register with the AICF. Please make sure that the AICF registration fee of Rs.250/- for the year 2015 is collected from each player who has not yet registered. Also, if it is possible, please have the unregistered players fill out and sign the player registration forms for the AICF, making sure to include their photo.
Check out the Clubs & Tournaments section of our website to locate a competition in your region. You are free to observe any event if you do not feel confident enough to participate right away in the game. The vast majority of tournaments feature "skittles rooms" in which players engage in casual competition, frequently in blitz games, and tournament participants evaluate their performances.
The following are the rules for participation in the tournament arranging committee.
Every participant, whether he or she is an AICF member or not, shall register with the AICF. For this purpose, please buy a Registration Card from any of the AICF-affiliated branches and fill in your name and all other necessary details at once.
The registration card should be presented to the Tournament Director or any other official of the organizing body before entry into the playing hall. You are required to have your AICF registration card with you throughout the tournament period.
All players who are not AICF members will have to pay an Annual Subscription Fee of Rs 250/- before they can enter the playing hall.
Every player is required to bring his/her own chess set and clock (except for Rapid games, where clocks are provided).
