The Ministry of Ayush has produced the Common Yoga Protocol for the International Day of Yoga Celebrations 2016. A pamphlet has also been developed in conjunction with top Yoga specialists and leaders of the eminent Yoga Institutions of India and published by Dr. Ishwar V. Basavaraddi, Director, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India.

On December 11, 2014, the 193-member UNGA unanimously passed, with a record 177 co-sponsoring nations, a resolution designating June 21 as "International Day of Yoga."

First Day of International Yoga
The Ministry of AYUSH successfully organized the 1st International Day of Yoga (IDY) on Rajpath in New Delhi on June 21, 2015. Two Guinness World Records were established: the Largest Yoga Class with 35,985 people and the Largest Yoga Class with the Most Nationalities (84).
On June 21 and 22, 2015, the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi hosted a two-day international conference on "Yoga for Holistic Health," attended by over 1,300 people from India and internationally.
The first International Day of Yoga was celebrated by millions of individuals worldwide in India.
