Anurag Singh Thakur (born October 24, 1974) is an Indian politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party who represents Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, in the Lok Sabha. He is the Minister of Sports, Youth Affairs, and Information and Broadcasting for the Second Modi government.
Thakur was earlier the Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs. In May 2008, he was elected to the Lok Sabha as a by-election candidate for the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Originating from a political family in Himachal Pradesh, he has served as a member of the 14th, 15th, 16th, and 17th Lok Sabhas for four terms.
Before this, he served as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president from May 2015 to February 2017 but had to resign due to a Supreme Court ruling over BCCI governance.
On July 29, 2016, he became the first sitting member of the BJP to join the Territorial Army as a regular commissioned officer.
He was included in a legal dispute between the Himachal Pradesh State Government and the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association regarding the ownership of the International Cricket Stadium in Dharamshala.
A Supreme Court judgment forced him to resign from his role as president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) due to controversies surrounding his nomination.
